The rules below help keep the lessons running smoothly. These are necessary so that other club members, our instructors and volunteers helping run the lessons are not inconvenienced.
Use of the lesson programme is ONLY for Wakatipu Ski Club members who have pre-booked to use the lessons. No friends' or relatives' kids.
Please don't bring your child to the lessons if s/he is sick or infectious. You will be asked to take him/her home again.
At least one parent/caregiver must remain on Coronet, contactable by cell phone, while their child is in lessons.
The lessons do not run only if the mountain is closed. Please check with nzski.com if the weather looks dubious. Coronet Peak's ph # is 442 4620. If the mountain is closed by weather while a session is on, please return to the meet point/hut and pick up your child immediately.
Please note the hours of operation for each session. There is no supervision of children during the lunch break, they are your responsibility.
Session times are: AM -10.30-12.20 PM - 2.00-3.50.
You need your child to be ready to ski/ride at the session time. Please allow enough time to park the car, get ready and ensure they have all their equipment at the meet point before the start time.
Please note that we meet at the bottom of the Coronet Express chair lift at 10.20 and 1.50 as the groups start at the session time and do not wait.
Pick up time is 12.15 and 3.45 so that you are waiting for the children to come in. Our instructors often have another class to go to, and need to get away at the end of each session.
The meet point is a safe area to wait please stay within the ropes while waiting to drop off or pick up as sliding/climbing on the ski run is Dangerous.
For the school holiday programme Please pick up your childs lesson ticket from the hut on the Monday morning(9.30-10am) prior to going to the meet point where the Snowsports school team will create the groups with the other clubs. Please meet in the fenced area beside the Coronet Express Your child will be advised of the instructors name for the week and at the meeting place.
For the 6 Sunday programme a list of the groups and the instructor's name will be posted on the web site prior to the 1st class. On each Sunday we will meet at the meet point, please look for a sign with the instructors name. On the first Sunday your child will be given a number bib to wear during the programme.
We group the children with a balance of age and ability with a focus on fun to create an environment of improvement for all the class, so please give the instructor time and space. We make changes based on group dynamics not individual performance. All the children get an opportunity to be the best in the group!
Unfortunately due to limited places, we are unable to offer you the choice between am or pm sessions for the 4 year olds. The places are allocated with priority given for the mornings to those with parents in the adult sessions.
It is understood that your child will cooperate with the instructions given to them during the class and that safety is our priority.
We hope you thoroughly enjoy your time on the mountain.
